Creation of the Machyne

Developed in 2002 as an alternative to a 'band' by singer/songwriter Chrys Rhodes, Sizter Machyne would take on several different forms before coming together as a whole.

The initial idea was to have live vocals and guitar blended with computer percussion and sequencing for a 'NIN-like' live show. The first disc, "Force of Habit _ the basement trax" was written and recorded over a nine month period in 2002. The debut show was performed in early 2003 at the Brewery in Troy, OH, opening for Springfield, OH based USLT. Feeling that something was missing, the project was shelved, and Chrys joined with DST as a lead guitarist in October of 2003.

After several months of lackluster shows with DST, and much thought, it seemed that the revival of the Machyne might be more alive if it were a three piece. Following the disbandment of DST, due to creative differences, a new alliance was born. Former DST percussionist Tony Lobertini joined up with Chrys to form the backbone of S&M.

The Machyne began playing the club circuit in May 2004 with former bassist Dan Wilker, then session bassists Jade Blizzy Boston, and Jason Woolard. It would be Blizzy who would come on board to present a fully functional Machyne to the world!

With the club roster growing weekly, and new shows like Woodshock 2004, and sharing the stage with acts such as Fear Factory, Bobaflex, and Drowning Pool, S&M will likely be rolling through your area very soon. See ya then...
